We’re encouraging you each month to vote for colleagues that go the extra mile
Alex Hall, of CAMBITION, is the first winner of the Cambridge Independent’s Employee Awards.
Held monthly to honour excellent workers, the awards are open to all sectors in the region.
IT support engineer Alex was nominated for the award by his managing director, Jamie Stuart, who said he had “elevated” himself and the company since joining.
Alex, 23, from Haverhill, said: “I was very pleased – it was so unexpected. Jamie told me he had nominated me and read out what he had written and that in itself made me happy.
“This company is great for getting experience as there are so many fields. When I joined I was quite shy but now I’m more or less managing this part of the business.”
Yesterday, Alex was presented with his prizes from our sponsors. He can now look forward to Sunday lunch for four, courtesy of The Royal Cambridge Hotel, while The Cambridge Fruit Company delivered a fruit basket. He is looking forward to trying the delicious creations of Chocolat Chocolat, while Ann Pettengell Recruitment gave him some bubbly to enjoy.
In his nomination, Mr Stuart explained: “Alex joined CAMBITION as an apprentice with little to no experience in IT other than just an interest. He had been rejected by many other IT companies unwilling to give him a chance to be a technician, however we saw something in his character and took a chance that he could be an excellent addition to the team, and we were more than right.
“Alex has surpassed all our expectations, he has elevated not only himself but the business to a new level of support and even made his mark on the operations of the business. He is now an asset to the company and continues to study and improve his own knowledge.
“Alex is now in charge of the department and is still only an apprentice as it was his own decision to return to college to further improve his own education as well as having such an important role at CAMBITION.
“I see this as complete dedication to myself as the MD, the company and himself, of which he should feel exceptionally proud.”
CAMBITION, based at The Officers’ Mess Business Centre in Duxford, supplies IT support, business guidance and digital services.
