Return of Cambridgeshire Festival of Education

Every one of them is being dubbed a ‘flamingo of hope’ because they want to optimistically and joyfully celebrate the teaching profession as ‘the best job in the world’.

Organisers of the Cambridgeshire Festival of Education, which is supported by the Cambridge Independent, have promised that participants will be in for a treat with a jam-packed programme of presentations, including five keynote speakers, 14 workshops and a panel discussion – and that’s without giving away any of the surprises.

The festival’s steering committee and organisers are calling the event ‘The Most Optimistic Education Festival in the World, Probably’.

But it’s worth knowing that the event isn’t just a conference and does have the look and feel of a real festival – there will be live music, bunting, a festival village and games to add to the joyous feel.

Organisers are incredibly grateful to Cambridge Regional College and its students for contributing to the design and construction of a secret art installation as well as videographers, reporters and musicians on the day.

The festival, widely known as CambsEdFest, is offering something unique in Cambridgeshire. The event is an opportunity for teachers to hear from big names and thought leaders in the world of education.

Rae Snape, headteacher at The Spinney Primary School and head of The Kite TSA Cambridge, which is project managing the festival, said: “I have programmed the whole event via Twitter and that has meant we’ve been able to connect with some incredible stars. Professor Alma Harris, Amjad Ali and Chris Pointon (Hello My Name is… Campaign) to name a few.

“This is the second ever CambsEdFest and we’re really excited about #Flamingle18 – that’s the hashtag the very chatty CambsEdFest twitter community is using. Return of festival that celebrates education”
