More than 4,000 women and children took part in Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life in Cambridge amid searing temperatures on Sunday (July 8).

It is thought that they will have raised £250,000 towards life-saving cancer research.

The 5k and 10K runs, which set off and ended this year on Jesus Green, took in a scenic route through the city centre.

The hot temperatures didn’t put off the participants - many of whom had very personal reasons for taking part.

Cancer patients, survivors and friends and family of those who have been affected by cancer were among those taking on the race.

Cambridge is a hub for cancer research, with CRUK’s Cambridge Institute on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus being one of the world’s leading sites in the field.
