Lane closure will be re-installed once the underground issue has been rectified
Highways England is to remove the A14 lane closure at Milton this week after the discovery of an underground obstruction.
But a spokesman for the HE insisted it would be re-instated once the situtation had been dealt with.
He said: “We’re removing the lane closure at Milton this week. We’ve discovered a below ground obstruction and are postponing work until we find a solution.
“We hope removing the barrier will reduce disruption in the meantime. We’ll let people know when the closure will be reinstalled.”
The £1.5bn A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon improvement scheme includes a major new bypass to the south of Huntingdon and upgrades to 21 miles of the A14.
Work officially started in November 2016 and the new road is expected to open to traffic by the end of 2020.
