The hospital’s accident and emergency department was closed for two hours on Monday, March 5

Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the hospital, asked patients to choose alternatives where possible so they could prioritise “very sick patients”.

A statement released shortly before 6pm said: “We can confirm that the computer network issues have now been resolved. However, patients are advised that our A&E is still extremely busy and consequently we remain in major incident.”

It went on: “CUH would like to thank patients and staff for their support during this incident.”

The trust is directing patients to the Choose Well website, which gives advice to patients who are unwell but are unsure where to seek treatment.
