About 2,500 runners took to the streets of Cambridge on Sunday (October 21) for the seventh annual Muscular Dystrophy UK Cambridge Town and Gown.

Paul Mizon, 26, was the fastest runner, coming in at 31 minutes and 38 seconds.

Marshall Milton Keynes AC runner said: “It’s a really great race. I didn’t realise how big an event it was until I got down here. I only entered last week because a friend was doing it and I’d been getting a lot of personal bests recently, so I thought it would be good to do a 10k. I got a rush of energy at the end where I thought that my legs felt much better than usual. If you know you’re getting a PB then nothing hurts as much as it normally does.”

Emma Hodson, 35, was the fastest woman, completing the run in 37 minutes and 11 seconds. She said: “I’m an academic clinician, so I’m actually both Town and Gown. I’m not part of a running club and I train by myself, so it feels great to be the quickest woman. I haven’t won any races before so it’s a lovely surprise. I really enjoyed the route and the weather was fantastic, which also helped!”

Carter Jonas, which sponsored the event, had a team of seven runners taking part.
