Football players from Cambridge United visited the children’s ward at Addenbrooke’s Hospital on Monday (December 18) to spread some festive cheer.

Each year U’s players head over to the hospital to meet the young patients and staff on children’s ward C2. Almost the entire squad went along with gifts and goodie bags for the youngsters who may not be fortunate enough to celebrate Christmas in the comfort of their own homes. The presents were donated by Cambridge United fans.

The U’s spent time chatting to the children, parents and siblings as well as staff, signing autographs and putting a smile on many faces.

Among the players who made the trip across the city were striker Uche Ikpeazu, defender Greg Taylor and goalkeeper David Forde.

Andy Farrer, Cambridge United Community Trust’s health and inclusion officer, said: “It was great to see the smiles on the children’s faces at Addenbrooke’s during the players’ visit.

“We’d like to thank the brilliant work of the Addenbrooke’s staff, both for facilitating our visit and for what they do every day, which we got a brief view of during our visit.

“We’d also like to thank our fans for their generosity in donating presents for the children at Addenbrooke’s.”
