The Met Office is issuing a yellow weather warning today that is forecast until 4pm today.

It means snow and ice will be present. The forecast predicts outbreaks of rain, sleet or snow with strong winds, and temperatures hovering between 2°C and 3°C.

The Met Office’s warning affecting Camrbidge says: “Some injuries are possible from slips and falls on icy surfaces and there will probably be some icy patches on untreated roads and cycle paths.

“Some roads and railways are likely to be affected with longer and more difficult journeys.”

Road closures are available on our Live Traffic Map.

Drivers are urged to drive with caution. Co-op insurance reported a 50 per cent increase in collision claims yesterday, Sunday December 10, compared to the week before.

Nick Ansley, Head of Motor Insurance at the Co-op commented: “On Sunday we saw a 50 per cent increase in the number of claims reported due to road incidents in comparison to last Sunday. As this cold and icy weather is set to continue we’re urging drivers to take extra care by allowing additional time for journeys and checking car lights and tyres before setting off.”

The majority of school remain open. Schools in Cambridgeshire that are closed today are:
