The latest winner of the Cambridge Independent Employee Awards has been announced.

Sheila Roberts, a specialist palliative care community nurse, has worked at the Arthur Rank Hospice for 32 years caring for patients at the end of their lives and providing support and comfort to their families.

Sheila retired this month and hospice CEO Lynn Morgan got in touch with the Cambridge Independent to nominate her for the award.

Lynn said: “While a very skilled specialist palliative care nurse, Sheila exudes calm and confidence. During her many years at the hospice she has worked both on the inpatient unit and out in the community, visiting patients with life-limiting conditions and then supporting them through the course of their illness.

“She has cared for so many, many patients and supported their families through very sad times but has remained a bubbly and fun person. She will be really missed by all the hospice staff.”

Sheila was presented with prizes from sponsors Chocolat Chocolat, Cambridge Fruit Company, Ann Pettengell Recruitment and The Royal Cambridge Hotel.

The awards encourage businesses to nominate a member of staff who has gone above and beyond their duties; someone who has achieved distinguished long service or who constantly overperforms and may otherwise go unnoticed. They will run monthly until the end of the year.

To nominate go online at cambridgeindependent.co.uk and fill in the form. All you have to do is say in no more than 200 words why you feel your employee or colleague is worthy of one of our awards.
