Series of community engagement events will aid design of segregated routes into Cambridge

The community is being asked to help shape the new Comberton and Melbourn Greenways that will provide cycling routes into Cambridge.

A series of community engagement events begin today (Wednesday) and run until Thursday February 1 at which the Greater Cambridge Partnership is asking residents to use their local knowledge to help shape the design and routes of the Greenways.

They are two of 12 Cambridge Greenways being developed by the GCP that are intended to provide cycling, walking and equestrian routes segregated from traffic that will connect villages to the city. The GCP hopes they will ease congestion and improve public health.

The events for the Comberton and Melbourn Greenways will be held on:

■ Wednesday January 24, 5-8.30pm – Comberton Village Hall

■ Thursday January 25, 5-8pm – Melbourn Community Hub

■ Friday January 26, 9.30am-noon – Shire Hall, Cambridge

■ Tuesday January 30, 6-8.30pm – Coton Village Hall

■ Wednesday February 1, 5-8.30pm – Trumpington Meadows

Events for the Bottisham, Swaffham and Horningsea Greenways will be held in February and March.

The winner of the Greenways logo competition has also been announced following an online poll run by the Cambridge Independent.

Cambridge Regional College student Luke Nash’s design will be used to signpost the routes.
