The museum is set to reopen in February.

A “long overdue” deep clean is under way at the Museum of Cambridge as it continues a battle to survive amid financial difficulties.

Rumours that the Castle Street attraction was due to close have been quashed, and trustees are looking ahead to make sure that the venue’s future is sustainable.

It is hoped that the reopening of nearby gallery Kettle’s Yard, which has been closed for a major refurbishment, will help to drive footfall.

The museum is set to reopen in February. In the meantime, the museum shop remains open between Thursday and Sunday, 11am to 3pm.
