“It was an incredible event,” said Stars’ Hellena Barnes. “It’s a Cambridge phenomenon really. There was sunshine on Jesus Green and we achieved a record charity total.

“The volunteers were amazing and the visitors were super generous.”

The event, which ran from Monday to Saturday last week, served more than 200 types of beer and 90 types of cider.

Stars’ chair of trustees, David Culley, said: “The success of the Cambridge Beer Festival has surpassed my wildest dreams and is testimony both to the incredibly hard work of the STARS team and volunteers, but also how our charity resonates with the public.”
