Cambridge Indies’ Week starts on Saturday

Independent shops in Cambridge’s bustling city centre are celebrating Independents’ Week 2016 from Saturday, October 1, through to Sunday, October 9.

Thirty-five city centre shops have signed up this year and are offering a range of competitions, prizes and discounts.

The annual campaign highlights everything that independent retailers contribute to the city centre.

Becky Burrell, Marketing & Commercial Manager at Cambridge BID, which represents the interests of 1,100 city centre businesses and co-ordinates Independents’ Week locally, says: “The value our independent traders add to our communities and our local economies has been proven. Stats show that for every £1 spent with a local, independent business, between 50p-70p circulates back into that local economy.

“Independents’ Week is all about raising the profile of our wonderful ‘indie’ businesses and encouraging people to experience their unique products and great customer service.”

For more information and to find out what’s going on there’s a full list of Indies’ Week events on the Cambridge BID website.
