Man dies and another seriously injured after light aircraft crash at Bourn airfield

A man has died and another seriously injured after a light aircraft crashed at Bourn airfield.

The East of England Ambulance Service Trust (EEAST) were called to the airfield, near Cambourne shortly after 11.30am today (Monday, October 17).

A spokesman for EEAST said: “We sent the hazardous area response team (HART), a rapid response vehicle, ambulance crew, ambulance officer and two air ambulances to the scene.

“Two male patients were involved, sadly nothing could be done for one and he was pronounced dead at the scene, whilst the other has been taken to Addenbrookes Hospital via land ambulance with serious injuries.”

The Air Accident Investigations Branch has confirmed it has sent a team to investigate an “aircraft accident”.

A police spokeswoman said that the Air Accidents Investigation Branch are at the scene and the coroner has been informed.
