16-year-old was on park bench

A muscular man is wanted b y police after an attack on a teenage boy in a Cambridge park left him with a serious head injury.

The 16-year-old victim was sat on a park bench with a friend in Coleridge Road between 6.30pm and 7pm yesterday (September 22) when they were approached by a group.

One of them asked for a cigarette and lighter and the victim handed them over. However, when he asked for the lighter back they refused and he was punched.

Another member of the group then threw a bottle at him, causing him a serious but not life threatening head injury.

The man who punched the victim is described as large, white, about 5ft 9in, muscular, in his mid-20s, with short black hair and was unshaven. He wore a red and black zip-up hooded top and dark jeans.

The victim received treatment in Addenbrooke’s Hospital.

The group was between 10 and 15 strong and aged in their 20s.
