Wine expert John Hoskins has taken back the lease of a well-known Cambridgeshire pub.
Mr Hoskins and his wife Julia – owners of the Huntsbridge Group, which includes the Old Bridge at Huntingdon – have taken back control of the Three Horseshoes at Madingley.
The inn and restaurant is undergoing an extensive refurbishment programme and launch of new menus and wine list.
For the last nine years, it was run by RCS Catering, which has now ceased trading.
Mr Hoskins, a Master of Wine, will bring a wealth of hospitality expertise to the Three Horseshoes, having successfully run the Huntsbridge Group for 22 years.
At one time the group included the Old Bridge, the Pheasant at Keyston and the Falcon at Fotheringhay, as well as the Three Horseshoes itself.
He said: “We’re very excited to have taken the lease back and are already implementing a number of exciting changes.
“Our refurbishment programme will continue through the autumn, creating a smart, comfortable and relaxed setting but retaining the traditional ambience.
“We’re introducing a new menu which features fresh, simple and seasonal food from the Mediterranean which we hope will appeal to existing and new customers.
“The wine list has also been refreshed and offers an eclectic assortment of bottles with the emphasis on light, bright, modern styles which complement the style of food.
“Over the coming months, we’ll be hosting special wine events when we pair wines with food. We look forward to welcoming people to eat or just pop in for a drink.”
The last few weeks have seen major works at the picturesque thatched inn, with rebuilding of the conservatory at the back overlooking the garden. The exterior has been redecorated, along with the interior, and a new outdoor area at the front gives customers a place to enjoy a drink or lunch.
The Three Horseshoes is open for lunch seven days a week, from noon to 2.15pm, and for dinner on Mondays to Fridays, 6pm-9pm, and Saturdays, 6pm-10pm.
