National Citizenship Service youngsters take part in social action project for homeless

A group of teenagers are helping Cambridge’s homeless by putting together a number of care packages full of essential goodies.

The youngsters, taking part in the National Citizenship Service, have produced the packages as part of a social action project which benefits the local community.

The packages include such essential items as as toothbrushes, shampoo and deodorant, which have been donated by the Co-op on Hills Road.

Barry Giffen of Jimmy’s Night Shelter, said: “Here at Jimmy’s we are delighted to be supporting the National Citizen Service. It is very humbling to be supported by our local community and the NCS students. All the items provided will go to make a very real difference to a homeless individual’s life.”

Claire Brewer from the Co-op added: “We are delighted to see young adults creating social action projects benefiting such great causes like Jimmy’s Night Shelter.

“We are happy to support such a great cause.”

The NCS team have a Go Fund Me page to help raise funds and support the homeless.
