Last weekend saw the launch of phase two at Manor Farm – a landmark housing scheme in the village

The sun shone on April 21-22 as developers and potential new homeowners gathered to view a stunning showhome heralding the opening of phase two at Manor Farm.

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough mayor James Palmer said: “I think it is an extraordinarily exciting development, a place where people would want to live, with wide open spaces, good design and high-quality homes.

“I am very proud to be associated with Manor Farm and I think it is an example of what can be achieved when communities work together alongside planners and developers.”

He added: “I really feel that if we are to have sustainable development across Cambridgeshire, and indeed across the UK, then community land trusts like this one at Stretham are an example of the way forward.”

The launch of the second phase will include 28 new homes, ranging from two to four bedrooms. Available with the help to buy scheme, the next phase of homes has been carefully designed and sensitively spaced within the heart of the development, around the central village green, and are now available to be reserved off-plan.

Eight of the new homes will be part of the community land trust (CLT) and available exclusively to local people within the neighbourhood.

“We are absolutely delighted with the quality of the scheme, particularly in the fact that the affordable houses are mixed with the open-market houses and built to the same quality,” said Charles Roberts, chairman of the community land trust.

“The quality of everything here is exceptional, from the build to the landscaping, and our tenants tell us their homes are very efficient to run.”

He continued: “We haven’t seen quality build like this in our area for a very long time. Developers Laragh and Peterhouse College, which owns the farm, have been absolutely fantastic in supporting us and they’ve done exactly what they said they would do right from the start – we agreed the way forward and they have delivered.”
