Nomads grab point with City III

Annie Marther scored for Cambridge Nomads as they earned a 2-2 draw with Cambridge City III in East Women’s League, Division 2NW.

Nomads took the lead in the first half through Bethan Davis, but City responded to head into the break 2-1 ahead.

Nomads drew level as a brilliant individual effort from man-of-the-match Linsey Porter saw her take the ball from defence and carry it all the way before putting in a final cross for Marther to touch into the net.

Two goals apiece from Ellie Edwards and Laura Ludlow helped Cambridge South win 6-1 against Spalding in 3NW. Elaine Penniket and Robyn Murray were also on target for South.

Amalia Thomas scored four goals for Cambridge South IV as they defeated Huntingdon II 9-1 in 4NW (S).

Lauren Brown scored two and Florence Brimblecombe, Hazel Polge and Dani Kilsby-Steele got one each to complete the win.

But Cambridge South III were beaten 5-0 by Haverhill II.

Cambridge University were unable to build on an earlier goal as they lost to Bedford 2-1 in the Premier Division.

Sally Bradley’s pass had been deflected in by Hattie Bevan to put the students ahead, but Bedford put away two short corners to earn victory.
