Cambridge City made it three wins out of three in Eastern Region Women’s Football League, Premier Division by beating Bedford Town 3-2.

In the first half, the Lilywhites completely dominated possession and territory.

Laura Mills broke the deadlock, tucking away a rebound after Bella Simmons’ shot had been parried by the Bedford keeper.

Simmons got the second, slotting home from close range, and after City had hit the bar twice, Sofia Castiglione grabbed the third with a long-range free kick that got a deflection on the way in.

After half time, Bedford pulled a goal back on the counter attack and then reduced the arrears further with a header from a free kick.

City had to dig deep, and with 10 minutes remaining Bedford hit the bar, but the hosts held on to keep make it five wins out of five in all competitions.

Cambridge City Development also kept their position at the summit of their table by beating Fulbourn Institute 4-3 in the S-Tech Women’s League, Premier Division.

The Lilywhites had the wind in their favour in the first half, and went ahead after two minutes through Emily Reed’s volley.

They doubled their advantage in the 11th minute through Lucy Hurst’s 25-yard effort and it was 3-0 when Megan Tonks rounded the Fulbourn keeper to score.

Fulbourn pulled a goal back after 25 minutes, but City took a 4-1 lead into the break as Tonks glanced in her second following a cross from Hurst.

Fulbourn got a second on the hour, and then grabbed their third in the final minute, but with Jade Powell marshalling the defence and Reed and Rachel Pearce putting in strong performances in midfield, City secured the victory to stay top of the table.

Issy Bryant scored five goals, Aime Fullwood got three and Ellie Wilkerson bagged two as Cambridge City under-16s earned a 10-0 win over Cambourne United.

Lily Oakes hammered a hat-trick, Ruby Austin netted two and Olivia Briffa, Jada Flatts and Ruby Want got one apiece as Cambridge 
City triumphed 8-0 against Bourne Town in 14A.

They also had a friendly match against Melbourn Dynamos boys, and won 5-3.

Emily White fired a double hat-trick as Cambridge City won 16-1 against Godmanchester Rovers in 13A.

Bella Axelsson and Lucy Short netted hat-tricks and Daisy King got her first City goal, Laura Thompson grabbed her first competitive goal and Erin Burling was also on target.
