Cambs Invitation Cup final beckons for Lilywhites

Cambridge City have stretched their unbeaten run to four games, having booked their place in the Cambs Invitation Cup final.

They started the weekend with an impressive 1-1 draw with Leamington in the Evo-Stik League Southern, Premier Division.

Leamington arrived at Westwood Road looking to boost their promotion prospects, but they soon found themselves a goal adrift.

Ollie Snaith broke the deadlock with a volley in the 22nd minute.

The visitors hit back to equalise eight minutes later, but City continued to perform well and were a handful for Leamington throughout the game to earn a valuable point.

City maintained their unbeaten run on Monday night, beating Wisbech Town 3-1 in the semi-finals of the Cambs Invitation Cup.

Charlie Woolfe put City ahead in the first half, and Manny Osei doubled the lead after the break.

Wisbech reduced the arrears, but 16-year-old Harry Farrow completed City’s victory.

City have had further good news as striker Matt Foy has extended his loan from Cambridge United until the end of the season.

Histon had a setback in their bid to beat the drop in Division One Central with a 2-0 defeat at Potters Bar.
