Lilywhites star grabs four in win over Sudbury

Laura Mills struck four goals to help Cambridge City maintain their fine start to the season in Eastern Region Women’s Football League, Premier Division with an 11-1 win over Sudbury.

The Lilywhites went into the game having won all of their matches so far this campaign, and they continued that good form with some of their best football to date.

Top scorer Mills led the way with a quartet; Anna Goggin, Carla Penny and Erin Davies all bagged braces and Shannon Shaw was also on target.

The result saw City return to the top of the table, and they will be looking to maintain that position when they entertain AFC Dunstable at Trinity College on Sunday (October 28).

Cambridge United Women also got into double figures as they triumphed 11-0 over Fulbourn Bluebirds in the S-Tech Women’s Invitation Cup.

Kelley Blanchflower hit a hat-trick, Amy Howlett and Vicky Neal grabbed doubles and Stephanie Gale, Becky Shephard, Kayleigh-Anne Burt and Chloe Smith all got one apiece.

In the second round, United have been drawn away to Newmarket Town, while City face an away game at Histon Ladies.

In the FA Women’s National League, Reserve South/South East Division, Cambridge United Development drew 3-3 with Norwich City Development thanks to goals from Charlotte Crisp, Lucy Gateson and Mollie Coupar.
