Four goals from Lilywhites striker

Megan Tonks fired Cambridge City to the S-Tech Under-16 League Cup with all four goals as they beat Stotfold 4-2 at St Neots Town Football Club.

Having already secured the league title, City were aiming to do the double at the Cozy Stadium.

City started the game in top gear and it was not long before league top scorer Tonks had given her side a three-goal advantage with a quickfire hat-trick before half time.

After the break, Stotfold had more of the ball, but Tonks, who was named player of the match, got her fourth goal.

Stotfold scored two late goals, but the game had already been won by City at that point.

The under-15s final saw the top two teams in the league, Cambridge City and St Ives Rangers, battling it out for the first piece of silverware of the season.

City suffered two early injuries as they struggled to get any real grip on the game in the opening exchanges.

St Ives took the lead, but City were back on level terms when Katie Stancombe fired home the goal of the game from the corner of the area.

The Lilywhites enjoyed the upper hand after half time but they were unable to find the clinical touch in front of goal.

And just as the game seemed to be heading to extra time, St Ives reacted quickest to a free kick to stab home and complete a 2-1 win.

City’s player of the match was Ellie Allen.

Cambridge City and Isleham could not be separated in a 1-1 draw in 14A.

Isleham took the lead midway through the first half, but City drew level when Annabel Cuthbert slotted home a good cross from Freya Standing.

Both keepers were kept busy throughout the game, with Sally Phelps making some good saves in the City goal, and earning the player-of-the-match award.

Cambridge City completed their season in 13A with a 7-0 win over Sawston.

Amie Fullwood fired a hat-trick, Milly Clarke notched a double and Niamh Davies and Kayleigh Peters got one apiece, while Jessie Fitzpatrick was named player of the match.

City face Soham Town Rangers in the final of the S-Tech Under-13 League Cup on Friday (May 5).

Cambridge City kept the pressure on league leaders Coton Cosmos in 12A with a 3-1 win at Wisbech St Mary.

Player-of-the-match Rosina Summers got City’s opening goal in the first half, and their lead was doubled midway through the second period by Isabelle Ely.

Wisbech pulled a goal back with a minute left, but City restored their two-goal advantage seconds later through Maddie Shantzs.

Cambridge City celebrated their Eastern Region Women’s Football League, Division One success with a 4-0 victory over Hutton.

They had already secured their second title in two years – they are 13 points clear with one game remaining – and were presented with the league trophy at Trinity Old Field.

And the Lilywhites will be hoping to make it a league and cup double on May 14 when they face Haringey Borough, who are the champions in the Premier Divisiion in the ERWFL League Cup final at Letchworth.
