Three wins on the trot for Lilywhites

Cambridge City got their account up and running at Westwood Road in the Evo-Stik League, South East Division by beating Northwood last Saturday.

The Lilywhites had won both of their matches on the road going into the game, but had not had such good fortune at home, losing to Ashford Town and Beaconsfield Town.

However, they had produced a dominant performance to beat St Neots in the FA Cup on their own turf, and were able to build on that.

Northwood had only lost once in the league to date, but the all-important goal for City came in the 10th minute.

The visitors were unable to clear a loose ball in the area, and Ross Paterson fired through a crowd of players to give City the lead.

City continued to create openings, but were unable to add to their tally as they sealed a 1-0 victory.

It is now three wins out of three for City, and next up is a trip to National League South high-flyers St Albans in the second qualifying round of the FA Cup.

The progress in the Cup has meant that City’s trip to Hanwall in the league has been moved to Tuesday, October 17 (kick off 7.45pm).

Meanwhile, Harry Norman has left the club.

He informed the management team he was not enjoying his football and has been released from the squad in order to find another team.
