Midfielder shows no signs of stopping scoring form

Ryan Sharman celebrated signing a new contract with Cambridge City by scoring against Beaconsfield Town, but it proved to be in vain as they were beaten 3-2 in Evo-Stik League, South East Division.

The attacking midfielder has been enjoying a brilliant campaign for the Lilywhites, and his second-half equaliser was his 22nd goal of the season.

Sharman, who signed for City from Soham Town Rangers in December 2016, said: “I’m very pleased to have been offered a contract with this great club.

“I’ve been in excellent form this season and hopefully I will be able to increase my goals tally that will ultimately lead to promotion.”

City manager Robbie Nightingale said: “This is a reward for the fantastic form that Ryan has been in so far this season.

“I am obviously very pleased to offer him a contract and look forward to him continuing with his great form for the remainder of the campaign.”

But it ended in disappointment for City at Beaconsfield.

After Sharman’s equaliser, James Hall then put City 2-1 ahead, but Aaron Minhas got his second of the game for Beaconsfield, volleying past debutant keeper Charlie Bannister, who has joined after being released by Solihull Moors.

And there was worse to come as Minhas completed his hat-trick in the closing minutes to send City to a 3-2 defeat.

There was another newboy in the City squad at the weekend at Beaconsfield, 25-year-old midfielder Ryan Ware.

The former Wycombe Wanderers youth team player has most recently been plying his trade in the USA with AFC Cleveland Royals.

And youngster Harvey Bullin has signed paperwork for the first team after impressing for the development side, while centre-back Jordan Williams has extended his loan from Brackley Town until the end of the season.
