Gold, silver and bronze for the club at Parliament Hill
Cambridge & Coleridge Athletic Club were laden with medals after the National Cross Country Championships on Parliament Hill.
The club sent 10 teams to London, and they returned with a full set of silverware.
Thomas Keen, pictured above, David Dow, Oliver Newman and Nicholas Harhalakis formed the under-17 boys’ team and despite two falls on the treacherously muddy course, they edged out Invicta East Kent AC and powerhouse Aldershot, Farnham & District for first place.
Keen was also on the medal rostrum in the individual event, following up his win at the Southern Cross Country Championships in Brighton by taking a national bronze medal.
There was a team silver for C&C’s senior women team.
Charlie Christensen was 11th, Georgina Schwiening 16th, Vicky Knight 20th and Katy Hedgethorne 38th to earn second place, jut behind Sale Manchester Harriers.
The senior men’s team had their best performance at the championships since the 1970s, earning fifth place out of 162 teams.
Jack Gray finished 17th, Lloyd Kempson was 31st and Chris Darling also made the top 100 despite losing a shoe.
