Ross Stewart demands full game performance from Cambridge

Moseley up next for Cambridge
Ross Stewart is calling for Cambridge to produce an 80-minute performance when they travel to Birmingham Moseley in National League One this Saturday.
They produced a thrilling 35-34 win over Loughborough Students last weekend, earned by three late tries and Jack Green’s conversion.
But the director of rugby wants to see a better display, rather than just in patches during matches.
“We’ve got to perform as we haven’t performed yet,” said Stewart.
“We talk about performance a lot to the boys. Yes, we go out to win every game but we’re firm believers in that if we perform well then it’s in our own hands.
“And we’ve got to go away to Moseley next week, do it for 80 minutes and front up.”
But Stewart wants to see Cambridge stop giving away soft points.
“It’s highlighted in the scoreboard in any sport, whether it’s golf or rugby,” he said.
“Sometimes you actually play really well at golf, the shots are nice but your scorecard doesn’t reflect it, and perhaps there is a bit of that.
“Perhaps some of our good stuff is outstanding. The disappointing thing for me is the conceding – you can’t do this every week.
“If a team scores, it’s good hard work and they’ve worked through the phases, fair play.
“But we talk about priding ourselves on setting the energy from our defence and it’s not, we’re almost the other way, but it will come.”
