James Ayrton, Ben Ibrahim and Cameron Ruddock agree to another year at Volac Park
James Ayrton leads the latest group of players to commit to Cambridge Rugby Club for next season.
The 24-year-old centre will be going into his seventh season at Volac Park after renewing his contract for the 2018-19 campaign.
He joined Cambridge from Saracens academy, and has made 115 appearances, scoring 31 tries.
“James is an excellent player, who has regularly been a standout performer for the club for a number of years,” said coach Simon Leader. “He is comfortable across the backline and has lots of experience, despite still being young.”
Joining him in re-signing prop Ben Ibrahim and hooker Cameron Ruddock, who are both 23 and who both moved to Cambridge during 2016.
“Both Ben and Cameron are young front row players who are developing well at the club,” said forwards’ coach Darren Fox.
“As they gain more experience, they will reach new levels of performance and both have bright futures in the game.”
On the pitch, Ben Penfold kicked four penalties for Cambridge, but they suffered a 23-12 defeat to Blackheath in National League One last Saturday.
Cambridge have a home game against Esher this Saturday (April 14).
