And Cambridge City restart campaign with win

Lucy Davidson scored twice as Cambridge South III secured promotion in East Women’s League, Division 5NW (S) with a 3-0 win over St Ives IV.

Top scorer Davidson got the first and then Kath Atkin doubled the lead before the break.

Davidson got her second after half time, while Sarah Holland was named player of the match for her defending.

And as other results went their way, South found they had earned promotion with over a quarter of the season to go.

Goals from player-of-the-match Catriona West, Jasmine Ong, Scarlett Pleasance and Charlotte Wilson earned Cambridge South IV a 4-0 win over Newmarket IV.

Cambridge South returned from their first visit to Skegness with a 3-2 win over Alford in 2NW.

Alice Wright opened the scoring after five minutes, converting a rebound after Robyn McLean’s penalty corner had been saved.

Alford levelled but South went back in front after Alice Hug set up Sophie McCommish to score in the corner.

The hosts equalised again, but South got their winner when Amalia Thomas rounded the keeper to score.

But South did need a crucial late save from keeper Louise Tonkin to ensure the points.

There was victory for Cambridge Nomads, who won 2-1 against Pelicans thanks to goals from Ruth Marriott and Liz Johnson.

Izzy MacDonald-Parry struck a last-gasp winner as Cambridge South II beat Newmarket II in 4NW (S).

After a goalless first half, Kendra Seed earned a penalty flick which MacDonald-Parry converted.

Newmarket levelled from a penalty corner, but Ellie Raffan and Eimear Lee combined to play in MacDonald-Parry to nutmeg the keeper for her second and the winner.

In the Investec Women’s Hockey League, Conference East, Cambridge City won 3-0 at Southgate.

Helen Richardson-Walsh opened the scoring, and Charlotte Burrows got a goal in each half to complete the win.
