Sharp shooter Lucy Davidson maintains run of form
Cambridge South III have taken their goals total to 60 in eight games after an 8-0 win over Huntingdon II in East Women’s League, Division 5NW (S).
Top scorer Lucy Davidson broke the deadlock and went on to complete her hat-trick by half time, with South establishing a 5-0 lead.
Dani Arnold also got a treble and Kath Atkin scored two as South remain top of the table, with the best scoring record across the 41 East Divisions and with only two goals conceded.
Cambridge South first team’s difficult run against promotion rivals continued in Division 2NW as they lost 1-0 to City of Peterborough II.
But there was a positive for South with an impressive first-team debut for Alice Wright, whose work rate and silky skills earned her the player-of-the-match honours.
Rachel Gooch produced a solid defensive display for Cambridge Nomads, but four second-half goals saw them lose 4-0 to Cambridge City III
Cambridge South II slipped off the top of 4NW (S) as they lost their 100 per cent record with a 3-1 defeat to St Ives III, who replace them at the helm of the table.
St Ives got two in the first half, and a third after the break before South scored goal of the game, with skipper Louisa Warburton pinging the ball for Kendra Seed to deflect in.
Amy Kingston scored a hat-trick for Cambridge Nomads II as they triumphed 3-0 at Wisbech Town III in 4NW (S).
Emily Stevenson scored twice for Cambridge South IV as they produced one of their best performances of the season in a 4-2 defeat to second-placed Royston III in 5NW (S).
First-half goals from Helen Richardson-Walsh and Heidi Baber earned Cambridge City a 2-1 triumph at Bedford in Investec Women’s League, Conference East.
