Nothing between the two sides in League Two

Cambridge United will be out to leapfrog Stevenage in the Sky Bet League Two table with victory at the Cambs Glass Stadium tomorrow.

The teams are level on 26 points, but Stevenage are two places higher than the U’s by virtue of a superior goal difference.

Darren Sarll’s side are without a win in five games, but that sequence does include draws against Notts County and Coventry City.

“Just the past three results, there have been a couple of very good results against some teams at the top end of the table, and a loss as well,” said U’s head coach Shaun Derry.

“They will be going into this weekend’s derby hoping they can get the win.

“I look at ourselves and Stevenage both sat their in the middle of the league on equal points, and they will want to go on a little run themselves and come and cause us problems.

“They are a good team and have a good manager there, with some good players; I think there are a lot of teams similar to the likes of Stevenage and ourselves.”

And Derry is hoping that the clash with the near-rivals will continue to provide a good atmosphere at the ground.

“We need it to be a positive atmosphere,” said Derry. “We need the positivity of this season and for everything that the locals have brought to the Cambs Glass Stadium to continue.

“I think the local derbies played at our ground have been good. I have often said that when everybody decides to get right behind the team, regardless of it being a local derby or a team that’s nowhere near us, the Cambs Glass does get rocking.

“It’s a great little ground when everyone is right behind the team, but ultimately when the team are giving the fans something to shout about; it’s a two-way thing.”

Liam O’Neil will be missing for the U’s after sustaining a head injury in the 0-0 draw against Cheltenham Town.
