Cambridge United ready for Millwall test

Cambridge United will be back at the Abbey this Saturday (July 21) when they host Millwall in a pre-season friendly.

The U’s have been ticking off the matches with aplomb, earning four wins out of four.

They secured an 8-1 victory win over Cambridge City, with Jabo Ibehre, Tom Knowles and Ade Azeez getting two each, and Emmanuel Osadebe and Gary Deegan also on target. Ryan Sharman scored for City.

That was followed by a 4-0 success over Royston Town last Thursday, when Reggie Lambe got two goals and Ade Azeez grabbed one, with the scoring completed by an own goal.

Last Saturday, they defeated Chelmsford City 4-1, thanks to goals from Harrison Dunk, Azeez, David Amoo and an own goal.

But the game against Sky Bet Championship side Millwall, who are managed by former Cambridge City striker Neil Harris with ex-Histon boss David Livermore his assistant, will offer a far sterner test and give head coach Joe Dunne a good insight into how his U’s team are developing.

Before the visit of the Lions though, United travel to Braintree on Friday night (July 20), kick off 7.45pm.

United start their Sky Bet League Two season on August 4, away to Port Vale.
