Midfielder could feature against Luton Town

Harrison Dunk is back in contention for a place in the Cambridge United squad for their trip to Luton Town this Saturday.

The U’s wide man has been in and out of the squad in recent weeks because of a hamstring problem, but a full week on the training pitches has given manager Shaun Derry hope that the player will be back in the squad for the visit to Kenilworth Road.

“We’ve seen Harrison on the training field this week which is great,” said Derry. “We said a few weeks ago that we couldn’t just get him back on a matchday having not trained Monday to Friday, it’s not fair.

“It’s not fair for him because everybody gets judged on a Saturday afternoon. People will always, always judge the outcome rather than the process.

“The outcome this weekend should enable Harrison to look back at his week and we can judge him properly.”

Brad Halliday has also been an absentee since injuring his knee at Leyton Orient, and his participation at the weekend is more hit and miss.

“Obviously Brad Halliday has missed a little chunk of the last few weeks as well,” said Derry. “We haven’t seen him on the training ground just yet, we’re hopeful we can see him tomorrow and if we do, we’ll have to judge him tomorrow.

“But I don’t want to be gambling too much on players, there is so much football still to play.”

Adam McGurk and Medy Elito remain on the injury list, with the latter hoped to be back in training next week as he continues his recovery from a knee problem.
