New addition at the U’s

Ian Mather has been appointed to the Cambridge United board of directors.

Mather is a trustee of the Cambridge United Community Trust, and in his capacity has been working with the club’s board to evaluate options for the potential redevelopment of the Abbey.

He said: “Everyone associated with Cambridge United are right to be ambitious for the club and I look forward to making a contribution as a member of the board to help achieve success both on and off the pitch.”

Mather has recently retired as the head of the Mills & Reeve’s Cambridge office, having been a partner in three different law firms in the city over 32 years after qualifing as a solicitor in 1984.

“We are delighted that Ian has agreed to become a board member at Cambridge United,” said U’s director of business Shaun Grady.

“Ian brings a vast amount of business experience to the board from his lengthy and successful legal career at Mills & Reeve and also has an extensive network of contacts across the Cambridge business and political community.

“Ian already knows the club well – both through working with the Trust and also helping the board evaluate options for the potential stadium redevelopment. Following his recent retirement from Mills & Reeve, this was the perfect time to invite Ian to join the board.”
