U’s have been a force against all at the Abbey this season

Joe Dunne will be looking for Cambridge United to continue their impressive home form in Sky Bet League Two when Exeter City visit tomorrow (April 7).

The U’s have won 11 matches at the Abbey Stadium this season, a home record that is only bettered by five teams, all of which are in the top season.

“The home form has been good,” said interim head coach Dunne. “The Abbey has been a good place for us this season.

“You get season’s where sometimes it is and sometimes it isn’t, and then your away form is good and then your home form; the balance is the next thing now.

“We enjoy playing there. I think the games have been good there, they’ve been pretty intense.

“We want that to continue this weekend again. Great credit to everybody who works on that pitch and the people who work at the Abbey, it’s important that we build that relationship between us all and continue to do so.”

The U’s have already got more points at the Abbey this season than the 2016-17 campaign, and there are still three matches left on their own turf.

“We want to build on trying to reach out to new fans, try to reach out to the vibrant community that is out there in Cambridge,” said Dunne.

“The Newmarket Road End and the Habbin are busy as well, and it’s very important we try to build a team in the identity of what the energy is here.

“We’re still working towards that.

“We’re only four years back in the league and rediscovering our league feet still, and there are a lot of things on and off the pitch that need to blend and we become one so we will keep trying.”
