Two form sides to go head-to-head
Joe Dunne is looking forward to Cambridge United pitting their wits at Sky Bet League Two promotion-chasers Accrington Stanley.
The U’s are on a run of four unbeaten, including three successive victories, but their development will be tested at Accrington, who are one of the form sides in the division and are in the third automatic promotion place.
“It’s a new challenge, and a challenge we will accept,” said United interim head coach Dunne. “One thing is for sure is that we’re against a team that I hold a great amount of respect for.
“Both on and off the pitch they’ve got quality.
“They are a team that over the last few years have been close to getting to League One, and some people still say Accrington Stanley?
“But they are well embedded in this league and looking to challenge to go up, and they will be there or thereabouts again.”
Strikers Kayden Jackson and Billy Kee have formed a potent attacking partnership for Accrington, and have been in a rich vein of form this season.
And Dunne hailed the ability of Accrington manager John Coleman and his assistant Jimmy Bell in being develop talent.
“It’s Jackson and Key, and if it’s not Jackson and Key it used to be [Josh] Windass, they continually do it,” said Dunne.
“It’s great credit to John [Coleman] and Jimmy [Bell] that they do and they’re a force, so we have to be ready.
“It takes preparation – that’s in hand – but we can go there on the back of confidence, and players armed with confidence gives us a chance.
