It has been a stand-out season for Cambridge South’s Kim Cooil, the Cambridge United Sport in the Community Awards star of the month.

Kim has made a huge contribution to the ladies’ first team as they have created history by winning the East Women’s League, Division 3NW title – a promotion that takes them to the highest level in the club’s history.

Kim is a sweeper and has dominated the centre of the field in every game, chasing down loose balls and tackling anyone who tried to get past her in open play.

She is the first runner in trying to block penalty corners, with her pace and guts proving a big factor in the side’s great defensive record this year.

However, Kim is also prolific at the other end of the field as well, and having score two hat-tricks during the season, getting five goals in another game and seven in a different one, she ended the campaign with 31 goals.

She has shown a ruthlessness to get in at the post to get the final touch.

It has all helped Kim enjoy a fantastic title-winning season with Cambridge South.

Grassroots football club of the month:

Witchford Colts are an FA Charter Standard club founded in 2002 to serve their community.

They have won this month’s award for the excellent charity fundraising they consistently partake in.

Each year they raise money for a different charity with an end-of-year charity fundraiser, and this year they raised funds for East Anglian Children’s Hospices and last year they raised funds for Prostate Cancer UK.

Furthermore, when they heard about the injuries to footballers Shaun Whiter and Joey Abbs, Witchford put on their own charity match to raise money for the pair.

Witchford are deserving winners for their charity fundraising that helps show the young people in their club how they can help make a difference.
