Light Blues to be out in force in Bulgaria

Imogen Grant will be part of a strong Cambridge contingent representing Great Britain at the World Rowing Championships in Bulgaria next month.

The Cambridge University Women’s Boat Club member, who is from Bar Hill, has been selected as part of the squad for the event in Plovdiv from September 9 to 16.

Grant, who won gold in the lightweight single sculls at the World Under-23 Rowing Championships in July, will travel as a spare for the senior lightweight women’s quad.

But if there are no injuries in either the double or the quad, then she will race in the lightweight single scull.

Grant joins CUWBC alumnae Melissa Wilson and Holly Hill in the squad.

Wilson will race in the women’s quadruple scull, which sees a return for Jess Leyden after she missed the last two regattas through injury.

Hill is in the women’s eight which won silver at the European Rowing Championships in Glasgow earlier this month.

Cambridge University Boat Club alumni Tom Ransley and cox Henry Fieldman will be in the men’s eight in Plovdiv.

Olivia Coffey has been named in the US squad for the World Rowing Championships The 29-year-old Cambridge Judge Business School MBA student stroked Cambridge University to victory in the Women’s Boat Race earlier this year.

Having returned to the US to trial, she has been named in the women’s eight for the event in Plovdiv.
