Cambs Deaf Association are the disability sport group of the month winners.

Cambs Deaf are recognised for their holiday sports clubs which are run in each school holiday for deaf and hard of hearing children.

The sessions aim to provide children with hearing impairments high quality, accessible coaching and help to provide meaningful activity for those children during school holidays.

They also help to connect children with hearing impairments across the region.

Andy Palmer, of Cambs Deaf Association, said: “The kids all had a great time learning different sports. They especially liked the handball which is a new sport to many of them and great fun.

“It just takes lots of the stress out of having fun when people know how to communicate with children who are deaf or have a hearing loss and that was definitely evident from the first holiday club.

“The first session was also attended by Great Britain Deaf footballer Matthew Wheeler, who came along to support the coaches and give his insight into being a deaf sportsman.”
