Alex Stafford was the ace in the pack for Sawston & Babraham in an eight-run win over Foxton in Whiting & Partners Cambs and Hunts Premier League, Division One.

Sawston & Babraham won the toss and elected to bat, with Matt Hague the only one to give the bowlers any hassle.

The opener hit 38 as they were bowled out for 101.

Sharmal Anderson took four for 9 and Jeffery Douglas snared three for 10.

However, the runs were just as scarce for Foxton.

Ryan Francis top-scored with 16 as Stafford tore through the middle order, taking six for 34.

With two wickets each for Aaron Pledger and James Van De Peer, Foxton were bowled out for 93 as they lost ground on second-placed Sawston & Babraham.

In Division Two, pacesetters Cambridge Granta II and Cambridge St Giles earned wins.

St Giles kept up the pressure by claiming a 58-run victory over Blunham.
