Five wickets guides Cambridge Granta II to victory

Deepak Raj produced the star turn for Cambridge Granta II as they defeated Cambridge St Giles by 87 runs in Whiting & Partners Cambs & Hunts Premier League, Division Two.

Dan Kindred (53) and John Turner (40) helped Granta post 196 all out, with Will Phelps the pick of the bowlers with three for 21.

Raj was the menace of the St Giles batsmen as he took five for 14 to help bowl St Giles out for 109. Only Reimell Ragnaught made double figures for St Giles, scoring 59 not out.

Centuries from Tom Price (116) and Mark Kimberley (105 not out) guided Saffron Walden to a 128-run win over Burwell II.

Foxton missed out on the chance to close the gap at the top of Division One after suffering a second loss to leaders Ketton in a week.

After being condemned to defeat at home the previous Saturday, Foxton knew it would be a tough ask against unbeaten Ketton, and so it proved.

Zesshan Manzoor made 59 not out as Ketton reached 169 for 8, with Jason Coleman taking three for 22 and Liam Lofts grabbing three for 23.

Dan Brown then led the charge for Foxton, hitting 55, but they were bowled out for 166 as Shakir Mahmood and Matthew Milner took three wickets apiece.

Histon’s poor run of form continued as they were beaten by seven wickets by Wisbech Town.

Will Brown (36) and David Noble (22) were the only players to trouble the scorers as Histon were skittled out for 107.

And Wisbech reached their target with relative ease as Gary Freear made 41 and Josh Bowers 31 not out in their 110 for 3.
