Granta maintain perfect start to the season

Cambridge Granta continued their perfect start to the season with a six-wicket win over Mildenhall in the Gibbs Denley East Anglian Premier League.

Granta won the toss and put Mildenhall in to bat, and opener Joe Reed made 65 as the hosts were dismissed for 208.

Ben Claydon and Lewys Hill took three wickets apiece, with the former’s coming for 40 runs and the latter’s for 48.

Granta made a good start in reply, with Claydon and Dougie Rice putting on an opening partnership of 82 before Claydon was dismissed for 31.

Rice went on to make 70, and an unbeaten 59 from Michael Pepper steered Granta to 211 for 4 for a six-wicket win.

Burwell also claimed victory beating Horsford by five wickets.

Burwell won the toss and elected to field, and dismissed Horsford for 146.

Joshua Vowden took three for 25 and Ayden Brown claimed three for 23.

Skipper Joe Tetley then made 50, Ben Seabrook an unbeaten 39 and Paul Summerskill 27 as Burwell reached 148 for 5 to claim their second win.

This Saturday, Granta host Sudbury, while Burwell travel to Vauxhall Mallards.
