First Choice Coaching event at Sawston & Babraham is great learning curve
Tom Westley proved a hit at a First Choice Coaching masterclass at Sawston & Babraham Cricket Club.
The Essex and former England batsman was at Spicer’s Sports Ground to put youngsters through their paces thanks to FCC, who are running junior coaching at seven clubs around the county this summer.
The session was run alongside an under-10s tournament hosted at Sawston the previous week, with a further masterclass to be held with another professional later in the summer.
“It was a great success and well received by the club and the juniors that attended,” said Dan Heath, director of First Choice Coaching.
“We had 80 juniors at training who were buzzing to meet Tom. He spent time with the four age groups – the All Stars, under-11s, under-13s and under-15s.
“After training had finished, Tom went in the nets and faced the bowling machine.
“Kids loved being able to watch Tom bat against the machine at more than 80mph.
“He then stayed for an hour after for pictures and autographs, and was amazing with the juniors who learnt so much from the evening.”
