Former Granta star gets new deal

Max Holden’s potential as one of the brightest talents in English cricket has been recognised with an extended contract at Middlesex Cricket Club.

The 19-year-old former Cambridge Granta batsman has added a further year to his deal, which takes him to at least the end of the 2020 season.

It was a breakthrough season for Holden as he made nine County Championship appearances on loan at Northamptonshire, before returning to Middlesex to make his first-class debut for the county against Hampshire at Uxbridge in September.

“We have always believed that Max is one of the most exciting young cricketers in the country and in 2017 he gave everyone a glimpse of what he is capable of producing,” said Angus Fraser, Middlesex’s managing director of cricket.

“The loan to Northants was productive for everyone and it gave him his first taste of first-class cricket. Max is very much at the forefront of our plans moving forward and we are delighted he has extended his current deal with Middlesex Cricket.”

Holden said: “I’ve been at the club since the age of 11 and it’s always my dream to represent the county.

“Signing a long-term deal with Middlesex is very satisfying and I’m really looking forward to helping the club win trophies over the coming years.”
