Swardeston earn East Anglian Premier League win
Stephen Gray’s century helped send Burwell & Exning to an 83-run defeat to Swardeston in the Gibbs Denley East Anglian Premier League.
The No 3 batsman made 114 off 108 balls and, with Callum Taylor’s 64 off 52, it helped Swardeston close on 298 for 8.
Andrew Bramley took three for 64 for Burwell.
Paul Summerskill was the top scorer for Burwell for the second week in a row, with 56, but despite Sam Rippington’s 37 and Joe Tetley’s 36, they were bowled out for 215.
Burwell & Exning, who are sixth in the table with 253 points, have a derby against Mildenhall this Saturday (August 18).
Max Whittaker and Alastair Allchin were the scourge of Cambridge Granta as they helped Bury St Edmunds to victory.
Granta won the toss and put Bury in, and it was the second-wicket partnership between Tom Curran (41) and Whittaker (77) that proved the most valuable, adding 75 runs.
Bury closed their innings on 211 for 8, with Raj Singh maintaining his fine form for Granta by taking four for 34.
Granta never got going in reply, with Chris Benjamin their top scorer with 22 as they were bowled out for 96.
Granta are ninth in the table with 230 points, and face seventh-placed Copdock & Old Ipswichian at home on Saturday.
