Duo suffer defeats in Gibbs Denley East Anglian Premier League

Cambridge Granta left Essex without a point after suffering a 94-run defeat to Frinton-on-Sea in the Gibbs Denley East Anglian Premier League.

Michael Griggs was the bane of the Granta bowlers as the opener took them to task throughout the innings, finally being dismissed for 104 with the score on 202 for 8.

And 14 runs later they were dismissed, as Tristan Blackledge took three for 47 and Owen Simonsen claimed three for 44.

But Granta never got going in reply.

Their top order was blown away as they were reduced to 71 for 6.

Only Lewys Hill (23) and Blackledge (31) offered any type of resistance as Granta were dismissed for 122.

Tom Jagot was the top-scorer as Burwell suffered a six-wicket defeat to Swardeston.

The opener fell two short of a half-century as Burwell failed to get enough runs on the board in Norfolk.

Burwell were bowled out for 154, and it was always going to be a tall order to beat the reigning champions with that total.

Swardeston’s top order just chipped away in the run chase with Jordan Taylor and Joe Gatting both hitting 34 as the hosts reached 155 for 4.
