Meldreth diver to renew partnership with Tom Daley in Budapest
Dan Goodfellow has been named in the British squad for the World Diving Championships in Hungary.
The Meldreth-based diver is one of 12 selected in the squad for the competition in Budapest from July 14.
Rio Olympic bronze medallists Goodfellow and Tom Daley will team up in the 10m synchro, while Daley will return to the top board for his individual event.
National Performance Director Alexei Evangulov said: “I believe we have selected the strongest team we have for the World Championships.
“The first World Championships of a new quadrennial is always an interesting challenge which often sees new athletes competing so it will be good for us to see who our international rivals bring out to compete.
“On the back of the success in Rio we know that we need to keep building and moving forwards which is why I know our team will continue to work hard to be in the best shape they can be for Budapest.
“This year our focus is more on the mixed synchro and our best athletes are involved in these events.”
Goodfellow won a bronze medal at the British Diving Championships in Edinburgh last weekend.
In the 3m springboard competition, the City of Leeds diver scored 428.45 points from his series of dives.
But it was only good enough for third place as City of Sheffield’s Ross Haslam won his third gold of the meeting with a score of 438.75.
Edinburgh Diving’s James Heatly was second with 433.75.
