Cambridge diver Dan Goodfellow clinched a Bronze Medal in Rio with his 10m synchro partner Tom Daley.
Team GB Factfile - Dan Goodfellow
Event: 10m synchronised
Age: 19 (19.10.1996)
Club: Plymouth Diving Club
Previous Games attended: None
Major achievements: ECh: silver (10m synchro) 2016.
The pair were last to dive in an agonisingly close competition, but they kept their heads and managed to leap over Germans Sascha Klein and Patrick Hausding to take third for Team GB.
At just 19 this is Dan’s first Olympics. He’s gone a long way since leaving Parkside Pool and the Cambridge Dive Team for Plymouth, where he trains with the national team.
The pair have only been training together since October, and recovering from an injury that ruled him out of the Commonwealth Games, Dan has shown incredible resilience and huge potential for future development.
The pair managed to get their own back on the German diving pair who just beat them to the gold at the European Championships in London in May.
The 10m synchro was Dan’s only event at the Rio games, giving him a short break before getting back on the board to train for next year’s World Championships in Budapest.
