Glenn Kirkham to take on top sport job at The Perse School

Former GB star returning to Cambridge
Former Great Britain hockey player Glenn Kirkham is returning to The Perse School to become director of sport.
The 34-year-old will return to the school where he was previously assistant director of sport, to take on his new role in September.
Kirkham made his international debut in 2002, and was named England captain for the 2006/07 season.
He made 223 appearances for England and Great Britain, competing at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2012 Olympics in London before retiring from international hockey in 2013 .
“It’s a major coup for the school,” said The Perse School senior deputy head Dan Cross. “We supported his Olympic campaigns whilst he worked at the school before he left to take on a new challenge.
“We are delighted to have reappointed him as our director of sport, starting in September.
“To have a double Olympian back on the staff is fantastic. He is a superb coach and leader and the pupils and staff with will learn a great deal from his experience.
“He is passionate about all sports and obviously hockey will benefit significantly from his expertise.”
