New campaign awaits for CAGU

Graham Goodman will be taking the reins as Cambridgeshire Area Golf Union seniors’ team captain this season.

The Saffron Walden golfer will be heading up the county team after leading his club side to a number of CAGU titles.

The Cambridgeshire senior’s golf team are getting ready for the new season.

They have qualified for the finals of the Southern Counties’ final, and will play a series of friendlies before the Midland and Anglian League campaigns start, with matches against the county side, Essex and Bedfordshire in the coming weeks.

The spine of the seniors’ team is made up of county stalwarts such as Jeremy Baldwin, Kevin Diss, Neil Hughes, David Hayns, Terry Ryan and John Yuill.

In addition, they will have newly-qualified players Ian Robinson and Bill Rusted to complete a formidable unit.

“This year we have one of the strongest CAGU squads available in seniors golf to really challenge for honours,” said Goodman.

“We have a number of friendlies coming up and training weekends incorporating the mental, coaching and pilates side of golf which makes us well prepared.”
